10up

Gold Sponsor: 10up

We’d like to thank 10up for being a Gold sponsor of  WordCamp CT 2014.
PushUp effortlessly connects your WordPress site to our website push notification service so that you can selectively deliver on-demand notifications right to your visitor’s desktops as you update your content. Be the first to deliver updates to your readers, and drive them back to your website, instead of context and conversion stripping feed readers.
All you need is an account at pushupnotifications.com, so that you can effortlessly and reliably deliver desktop notifications using our high scale push delivery infrastructure.
Use the code “WordCampCT2014” between now and the end of WordCamp CT to save 33% off sign up: $9.99 includes unlimited notifications for the first 30 days, and up to 100 unique push notifications each month for life (more on pricing here). And stop by the 10up table at WordCamp to sign up on the spot and we’ll knock down signup to just 99 cents and provision you on the spot – if you sign up before hand, just stop by and we’ll refund the difference!

Silver Sponsor: KnockMedia

We’d like to thank KnockMedia for sponsoring WordCamp CT 2014. It’s support like theirs that makes this event possible.

KnockMedia was founded in 2004 in New York City and moved to New Haven, Connecticut in 2009. Over the past 10 years, we have designed, built and managed hundreds of websites, apps and campaigns for clients in the entertainment, retail, beverage, healthcare and consumer goods industries.

We are a lean and nimble team driven by the passion to cultivate our clients’ ideas into engaging and compelling end-user experiences. Our team is strategic, creative and technically savvy. Our collaborative process produces beautiful, intuitive and effective online experiences. What sets us apart from other agencies is our collection of in-house talent. All of our clients experience the personal touch and a vested effort towards ideas being cultivated and goals being met. We are dedicated, we are accessible, we are skilled.

Silver Sponsor: NERDs

Please join me in thanking NERDs for their silver level sponsorship of WordCamp CT 2014. Without their support, our event wouldn’t be possible.

The New England Regional Developers, Inc purpose is to organize, educate and advance the skills of web designers and developers in the New England region. It seeks to do this primarily through nurturing a self-sustaining mentoring community for its local IT industry.

A not-for-profit organization, NERDs has identified and defined the major issues facing its community and industry today. The most visible symptom of these issues is the growing talent gap in the field of IT.

NERDs believes that our IT teams are not as strong as they could be due to irrationalities lingering from society’s past. The NERDs project identifies areas of the population that have a harder time making it into IT careers and works to remove those challenges or barriers.

Speaker: Steven Word, “Breaking Away from the Blog: Unconventional WordPress”

We just secured another amazing speaker! Steven Word is a senior web developer working at Oomph Inc’s office in Boston, MA. Originally from Arlington, Texas, Steven made the move to Boston in 2011 after seven years of freelance web development. At Oomph, he specializes in developing enterprise-level websites on the WordPress.com VIP hosting platform. When he’s not swearing at bugs or celebrating a successful product launch, Steven enjoys spicy food, Toyota sports cars, banging on the drums, and pretending to be a beer snob. Rumor has it that he also plays a mean game of foosball. Steven currently lives with his incredible and loving wife in Melrose, MA.

Steven will be presenting Breaking Away from the Blog: Unconventional WordPress

With the blog market cornered, WordPress is both able and eager to meet new challenges; as the platform has matured, so have its APIs and functionality. This session aims to explore many of the unconventional applications of WordPress, as well as to encourage exploration into the many possibilities offered as the platform continues to advance.
